Post-COVID Airway Recovery

The COVID-19 virus attacks the lungs and the respiratory systems, sometimes leading to complications such as pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Compromised respiratory systems translate into long-term, post-acute side effects that reduce our overall well-being and negatively impact our quality of life. Given the novelty of the virus and its associated stages of recovery, healthcare providers are continuing to identify effective treatments for those suffering with post-COVID symptoms.

One of such treatments was articulated by a Johns Hopkins physical therapist Peiting Lien. Peiting Lien recommends structured, at home breathing exercises aimed at restoring optimal lung function and supporting the overall respiratory system. A recent research article from the Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation journal echoes Peiting Lien’s sentiment and identifies physical and respiratory therapists playing an important role in post-COVID recovery.

Dr. Lenore Morrissey recently experienced COVID-19 and its effect on the respiratory system function. Through self-directed physical and pulmonary exercises Dr. Lenore Morrissey was able to successfully and effectively restore her lung function and successfully minimize the effect of post-COVID side effects.

Dr. Lenore Morrissey continues to serve her patients virtually and in-person, and is pleased to announce a new post-COVID recovery program. The program is built on research, personal experience, and our continued goal to improve the well-being of those we serve. The program is entirely virtual, non-invasive and can be completed at the comfort of your own home. To learn more and schedule an appointment, please visit us here.
