Creating interdisciplinary treatment plans is Lenore's specialty.  She works directly with airway centric providers such as dentists, speech therapists, ENTs, orthodontists, maxillofacial surgeons and more. This wholistic approach promotes optimal care for sleep, breathing, oral craniofacial problems including TMD (jaw pain and dysfunction) and myofunctional disorders.

Why is it important? 

When a body compensates for airway deficiencies, the impact can be far reaching down to the feet. Dr. Morrissey utilizes a whole-body approach and works with airway providers to achieve comprehensive outcomes.  

 

Function is as important as structure when treating the craniofacial complex.  This includes the function of the tongue as an organ in its role in airway patency, dental arch formation and maintenance, swallowing, speech and mastication.  From a physical therapy perspective, the position of the tongue (and hyoid- bone supporting the tongue) can dictate neck and whole-body posture.  For this reason, the role of a PT as a part of an airway interdisciplinary team is critical in total body wellness for any age group and activity level.
